By The Rainbow Company - Colfax, California
Jul 12, 2002, 1:29pm
The Rainbow Company, a gallery of art & music, will be opening in Colfax, California on July 18th, 2002. Colfax is located in Central Placer County off highway 80, 50 miles east of Sacramento. The gallery is located at 27 South Main Street behind The Healthy Way food store in the historical downtown region.
The opening reception, hosted by The Healthy Way & Way West, will be held on Wednesday, July 24th from 6-9pm. The event will include wine tasting sponsored by Green Family Winery.
The Rainbow Company will be open Thursdays noon - 6pm, Fridays noon-8pm, Saturdays 10-7pm and by appointment. The gallery will feature fine art, sculpture, jewelry and music from the international arts community.
The first exhibit will feature the work of Capucine. Born in The Hague, Capucine, is the daughter of late Charles Burki, an accomplished Dutch painter & illustrator. She has spent most of her creative life in a small village in the French Alps. Original watercolors & signed limited edition prints will be on display along with some of the books & calendars capucine has illustrated.
Lauraine Bacon, director of The Rainbow Company, has worked with the international music industry for over 20 years. Lauraine comments, "After meeting Capucine while attending a music conference in France I have become inspired to help introduce her work in the United States. The Rainbow Company was started to assist musicians with the marketing & promotion of their music and now we will expand into fine art as well." Lauraine will continue her position as account manager at KABA Audio Productions, her family's CD production facility in Novato.
What started out as a search for small office space in Placer County ended up in finding a location which could also serve as a small gallery. "I wasn't planning on opening a gallery but as soon as Doug Balmain of Way West showed me the space he had available I could already see the paintings on the wall. I have already been approached by several artists who are interested in showing their work at The Rainbow Company and musicians who would like to perform in the area." Lauraine says.
Capucine's exhibit will run until August 24th. For more information visit www.capucine.arts, www.therainbowcompany.com or call 415-328-5729.
